I was reading a post a couple of days ago where the author was trying to decide if “Cease To Begin
” by the Band of Horses was worth making his album of the year list (I’ll link it when I find it again). Most of his opinions and observations were correct. He clearly liked the album, but he wasn’t sure it belonged in the top 10. Personally, I think he is a perfect example of someone thinking too much. He knew the album belonged in his top 10 but he talked himself out of it. When you spend your entire post trying to convince us why one album should not be on the list, you may be looking with blinders. They have a distinct sound that is hard to compare.
Their sound is on “Cease To Begin” is definitely laid back. Each song on the CD is very similar, but each song has some pop type hook that drags you in. It is really quite fascinating. I would actually love for one of our readers to listen to them and tell me what you think?
