Apocalyptica

I’m not a Metalicca fan…. but I used to dig their music until they became a bunch of 80+ year old New Jersey broads bitching about kids running through their yards and pissing on their flowers. Lest I digress further, the reason I got my lazy ass off the couch to blog (for the record I was just gonna tweet but I’ve had a little sauce and was feeling gabby) wasn’t to share my views of the shot out shit that is Metallica. It was to praise Apocalyptica who were obviously into Metallica back in the day as well.

They made their first appearance onto the music scene by covering Metallica although not in the college bar band kind of way. No, Apocalyptica uses a little something the classical musicians call a cello which is an extremely creative idea although the album title is wee bit less creative, “Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos”. Forgive them the title though and you will find a very interesting bit of music.

Go find whatever track you want, maybe “One” or “Unforgiven”….Oh, perhaps you’re a “Enter Sandman” kind of fool….what? no you’re a real freak, you’re into a little “Wherever I May Roam”. It all good, they got ya covered. It is a fucking awesome little wrinkle into the world of music that is worth checking out.

Now they are doing some new tracks and collaborations with their cellos and other instruments that are pretty sweet as well. I am really liking the title track off their new album, “Worlds Collide”. For you old school rockers that remember the days when album art was a fucking craft then you will appreciate the album cover as well. For you younger dudes, before music became a god damn karaoke contest it was about booze, drugs, loose women, and album art….and sometimes breaking shit.

I can’t believe you blogged up Apocalyptica and didn’t hit on the song “I’m Not Jesus”.

I always leave some scraps for my peeps.

I’ve loved Apocalyptica for a while now, great entry to the blog!
